So even i'm a little confused about this one as to how it would work. But i got this recommendation from a friend and it's one of the more obscure of the prompts i have. Think of it this way, a zombie apocalypse where humans act like zombies only they can do everything a human can, including stop after they get hit anywhere, not just the head. But there is something i've heard of like this.
If your wondering what this is, it's a book, well, i guess that was kind of obvious, but anyways, in this book, a pill that cures psychological disorders and habits like chewing fingernails or hair, stuff like that. Well, the pill have a nasty and rather counter productive side effect of making the disorders worse. Say you have a habit of chewing fingernails, well with the variant drug, when you run your nails down, you chew your fingers instead. Let's say you have OCD, well, now if someone such as moves something just a little, you go nuts. Then there are the worst kind, which i can't remember the origin of any more, the ones that eat other people's skin, and only their skin. It would be be worse to survive an attack like that than to die in it. Although it's not a gas, it's a pill, it portrays a decent picture of psycho gas might be like.

Hi people, I'm the friend behind this one, so I'll explain it a bit further. The idea is that a gas is somehow introduced into Earth's atmosphere in such a ridiculous quantity that everyone not living in an airtight fallout bunker is breathing it in. The gas basically induces things like psychosis and OCD, meaning that now people are tearing each other, themselves, and pretty much everything else that moves apart with their bare hands or otherwise killing them with any possible thing they could use as a weapon. That would progressively get worse, as survivors would become more creative with how they kill, and the now-psychotic world leaders would suddenly be extremely trigger-happy with WMDs.
